Black jacket cable or outside plant cable is typically either solid insulated, foam insulated, gel filled, or pressurize (air filled).  Some of the more common types are PE-39 – solid insulation gel filled, PE-89 – foam skin gel filled, PE-38 – figure 8 self supporting solid insulation air core cable, and PE-22 solid insulation pressurized.  Gel cable is used for application where moisture and high corrosive elements are a problem.  PE-39, PE-89 and PE-22 cable is typically used for burial; however it can be lashed and hung from poles.  PE-38 cable has a built in messenger wire which lies on top of the cable and is wrapped together with the cable in order to support the cable’s weight to be hung from poles.  PE-38 cable is used for hanging and the messenger adds both strength and ease of installation.  Traeger Brothers carries a full line of outside plant cable with aluminium shielding and speciality cable with stronger armour for installations where small animals may damage cable.

Because of the storms which effect our region, most telcos are burying cables in duct.  Traeger distributes a full line telephone duct.  Some of the most common types are 4 inch C-Duct, 2 inch TC8 and TC6 duct.  We also distribute a full line of inner duct.  Inner duct is used to run you fiber optic cables inside your rigid 4 inch C-Duct.  Traeger distributes a full line of inner duct in all sizes with lubrication, pre-installed pull tape and pre-installed pull rope.  Pre-installing the pull tape or pull rope significantly reduces the time to pull the rope since the technicians do not have to shoot the rope into the duct.  The pre-lubrication also saves a step and allows more time for pulling your cable instead of prepping the inner duct.  For those jobs where more lubrication is necessary, Traeger Brothers carries a full line of lubrication and wipes for clean up.

Traeger Brothers carries a full line of hardware necessary for the installation and hanging of cable.  Guy grip dead ends, closures, nuts, bolts, offset bolts, eye bolts and rams head clams are a few of the more common hardware items.  Also drop wire and drop wire clamps are crucial for installations, quick repairs and storm recovery.  Cabinets for the field, installer tents, fans and umbrellas are other common items we carry.

Hanging equipment for PE-39, PE-89, and PE-22 such as strand and lashing wire are some of the necessary items telcos need for installing on poles.  Traeger Brothers distributes a full line of galvanized and stainless steel wire and strand.  Because of the salty air in our region most clients prefer the resistance of stainless steel over galvanized, but some inland areas can use galvanized strand.  Traeger carries even class C which is of the highest standard for our corrosive atmosphere.
